Haley Wins Prestigious 2018 Senior Fiddler of Dooney title in Sligo Ireland

On October 28, 2018 Haley competed in the Senior Fiddler of Dooney competition and was awarded 1st prize. The Fiddler of Dooney competition, named for the poem of the same title by William Butler Yeats, is one of the oldest and most prestigious Irish fiddle competitions.

Haley joins the ranks of previous winners whose names sound like a Who's Who of Irish fiddle including Seamus Connolly, Matt Cranitch, Cathal Hayden, Brid Harper, Liz Kane, Paddy Glacken, Seamus and Manus McGuire.  She is only the second American fiddler to win the title, the first since Kathleen Collins in 1968.

In March 2017, Haley released a CD she produced to aid The Mercy Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. She approached young musician friends from around the world whom she has met through Irish Music and asked if they would be willing to donate a track to the album.

She received an overwhelmingly positive response from many very generous and talented musicians!!

Special thanks to the wonderful Gabriel Donohue who donated his time to mix and master the project and graphic designer, 2016 Under 18 All Ireland Fiddle Champion, Patrick Finley! Thank you to all the fabulous musicians who donated tracks and to all the generous people who donated toward a successful Indiegogo campaign which raised the funds to print the CDs.

In June 2017, Haley was invited to visit the Mercy Centre to meet the children. She played music for them and taught them English through music. She also performed at the Irish Ambassador's residence in Bangkok. It was an amazing opportunity!

So far Music for Mercy  has raised over $8000 for the Mercy Centre!!
